Everyone speaks of individuality and being a “unique snowflake”, but how many of us actually take it to heart? While trends come and go, style is forever, so find fashion that reflects who you are as an individual. A great way to start experimenting is with accessories, namely shoes. Many of the styles I’ve picked out here are not for the faint of heart. They’re eye-catching, odd-shaped and all have a bit of wildness about them, but they’re all fantastic if you can pull them off. Enjoy! Bronx Fabia 72831 To be edgy, a shoe has to have attitude, as demonstrated by this retro, t-strap flat. It has a super pointy toe, thin woven straps around the vamp, a t-strap that ends in an adjustable ankle strap, and a subtle stacked kitten heel. Wear this flat in black (shown) to dress up a simple outfit, or choose the white/terra vernice/wind version as a casual shoe, it’s up to you. Available in sizes 6-11. Carlos by Carlos Santana Pretender Why pretend to have fun when you can strap on a pair of these fantastic weave pumps by Carlos Santana and really have a ball? The Pretender screams summer style and it’s hard to see why not. The upper consists of woven leather intricately criss-crossed over each other to create a light and airy texture. The scalloped edges and round toe exude a femininity that makes this pump the shoe to have. This shoe is constructed with an Atanado leather upper, synthetic sole and synthetic lining. Available in Mustard (shown), Caramelo, Green and Brown in sizes 5.5-10. Life Stride Astoria Get wild with these cheetah print strappy slingback sandals from Lifestride. If animal prints are your thing, then this is the summer sandal for you. The Astoria features thin straps that go down the body of the shoe, crossing over at the vamp and bursting into full bloom with a bold flower decoration over an open toe. Smooth lining, a cushioned comfort insole, rounded toe, and a flexible traction outsole ensure you feel good as you vamp it up. Nicole Pixel An uber retro slingback wedge sandal, the Pixel by Nicole is a fun way to take on the summer heat. The upper features woven straps that criss-cross over each other down the sides of the sandal, ending in a peep toe. Your foot stays stable thanks to the adjustable strap in the back. If you want something feminine and funky for this season, this is the sandal for you. The best part…the comfy wedge heel measures only 3”, so you get the height without the pain. Bolo Baza Definitely not for the non-artsy crowd, these funky slide sandals from Bolo feature pump-like side panels with an open toe and huge center flower decoration. I must warn, if these are worn with the wrong outfit you'll end up being the queen of fugliness, and that's something no girl ever wants to be. Instead, opt for a more downplayed outfit that brings attention to the shoes instead of clashing with them. The upper is made of smooth, shrunken lamb leather with stitching accents. Shown here in Sage; also available in Black. Available in sizes 6-11. Coloriffics Madonna This is a unique combination: a traditional metallic dress sandal upper on chunky cork wedge heel. The question is, is it a dress sandal or a casual wedge? Either way, it’s pretty darn cool. I love its glossy footbed and the beautiful four-straps over the arch with little rhinestones embedded in it. The wedge heel measures 3 1/2 inches. Available in sizes 5-11. J. Renee Bobbin This 2-piece sandal takes the word “strappy” to the next level. From its woven metallic cage-like body to its towering 4” heel, the Bobbin is the shoe to be seen in if you want to make heads turn. The front has a little peep toe and your foot is held in place by an adjustable ankle strap. Pair this flashy sandal with a great skirt and you’re set for a rendezvous around town, day or night. Touch Ups Cleopatra Evening shoes have always had a certain allure about them, especially because they can be so versatile. These fabulous strappy sandals from Touch Ups falls into that category of evening shoes reserved for women who like to take chances. The aptly named Cleopatra features an ankle coil that’s decorated with glittering crystals and is wrapped up the leg. The foot is held in place by the back sling that has an adjustable buckle. The thin strap that goes over the toes is also decorated with a vine of crystals. The tapered heel measures a decent 2 5/8”; available in black and silver (shown) in sizes 5-11. Skechers Cowgirl This funky heeled clog by teen favorite Skechers is anything but delicate. From the chunky wooden platform to the metal studs that line the outside of the footbed, the Cowgirl brings out the punk in any girl. The upper is made of thick woven fabric and it has an adjustable ankle strap to keep you stable. Looks great with denim, especially darker washes.
